Online Party Etiquette?

As many of you know, we all like to have vendor fairs and online parties when you are in the online business scene. I think that there are many people that do not realize how real this life path really is, and there are some that will go out of their way to walk on you and take what is not theirs. Let me ellaborate a bit.

Sally is having a party representing ABC company, and Jane is also an affiliate or consultant with that same ABC company. Jane decides that she wants to private message everyone in the party room while you are presenting your products and working hard for your sales. What is Jane saying to all of the party goers? I will tell you, and it is appaulling.

“Hey, are you planning on ordering from Sally. If so, will you use my link so I can make the commissions?” Yep that’s right! She is hijacking Sally’s sales and with not a bit of hesitation. Sadly, I see this all the time, and I think it is very wrong. That is why I am writing this post. What Jane just did to Sally would be the same as walking into Sally’s in-home party and saying, “Forget Sally’s presentation….you should buy these products from me instead.” It is wrong, and it is unethical.

Think about your last online party. Where you successful? Did you get the response you had hoped for when clicking to enter the party room? Did everyone seem unusually quiet while you were presenting your products? YES? You may want to re-evaluate if you want to choose to do business with that party room.

See the problem that you run into is that so many people sign up with the same great online companies because you cannot pass up a company with a low or free start up cost. Therefore, they invite their friends, and they make new friends while they are at these functions. I say more power to them, and I am glad they are making friends. However, if they are not representing the company that they are hijacking from another WAHM, they need to just shut up and listen to their team member do a good job. Instead of working with Sally, Jane chose to go behind her back and steal her sales.

With all this said, I think it is important to say that I see this all the time while attending parties as a guest. Many of the moderators of the chat rooms will think they have the upper hand and try to steal your hard earned sales from you in a private message. This has to be stopped. You need to be aware who is around you when you have a party. You have paid your money to party in their room. You should be respected by the room owner and the other vendors. Don’t leave there feeling that you did not present your business well. You did your best….the problem is that you just had someone in the background taking your glory away.

Keep your chin up, and if you feel you have been a victim of having your sales hijacked, find a new party room to start over in. New people, new sales, and new friends that support you and want to be there for you.
