I have noticed that people have been searching for information about the area, so I wanted to set aside a page just for information of events and happenings in the area.

June 21 - 18th Annual Hardy Homesteaders Day
Relive the experiences of those rugged pioneers who settled the Arkansas Ozarks as The Hardy Homesteaders celebrate their 18th annual Homesteaders Day. Music, rides, and a dress contest, will entertain visitors. Don’t forget to bring your favorite box turtle for the exciting Terrapin Races. The event will be held Saturday, June 21th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the city’s Loberg Park, just off Main Street.

Homesteaders Day provides a brief glimpse into the lives of our Ozark ancestors through personal historical interpretation and re-enactment of routine daily activities particular to the pioneers and their families that settled in the Hardy area. Visitors will see character portrayals of the tradesmen, sutlers, craftspeople and ordinary folk that made up area communities, as well as the sights, sounds, and smells of an era all but forgotten and unknown to younger generations, whose only exposure may come in the form of history books or movies.

There will be live music, wagon rides, a petting zoo, the ever popular Terrapin Races, a turn on the bucking barrel, dancing, and an old fashioned dress contest. Visitors can register at the front gate for door-prizes, a hand stitched quilt, and drawings throughout the day. Demonstrations will include:• Quilting
• Jelly Making
• Working Cross Cut Saws
• Spinning and Weaving
• Corn Grinding
• Mule Jumping
• Cooking on a wood burning stove
• Open Fire Cooking
• Butter Churning
• Soap Making
• Working Forge
• Shingle Splitting
• Candle Dipping
• Twice Told Tall Tales
• Working horses and oxen
• Live Music
• Robbery and Shootout Re-enactment
